In a
fixed length file the individual fields in a file are a constant or fixed
length. PayGate Desktop
can read
almost any fixed length file
Name Description Field
Mapping Go
through each field of the incoming file assigning each field to a BACS field. If a column contains data that should not be mapped to a BACS field then
map it to a field such as ‘Free Field 1’.
Give the importer a short descriptive name that identifies
the purpose of the importer.
You can optionally add a
longer textual description of the importer is
required.
Field mapping is where
you tell PayGate the position within the file of various payment
elements.
Advanced
Skip First line
Use this option
if you incoming file contains headers that need to be ignored. You can
ignore more than one line by adjusting the line amount.
Skip last line
Use this option
if you incoming file contains footers or trailer records that need to be
ignored. You can ignore more than one line by adjusting the line
amount.
Date Format
You can show PayGate
the format of any contained dates by using this option. See this page for
more information.
For files contain a date in the pseudo-Julian format yyddd,
use the word: BACSDATE.
Amount in pence.
If the incoming
file represents the amount in pence (e.g. £100 is represented as 10000) then
tick this option so that PayGate automatically converts the amount into pounds
and pence.
Sort codes contain hyphens.
It
is common to represent sorting codes with hyphens (e.g. 01-02-03). If your
incoming file represents sort codes in this way then tick this option.
End string position
If the End string position option is ticked, PayGate scans the incoming file
looking for a particular string at a particular position within the file. If the string
is found then PayGate will immediately stop importing any more records (including the line
where the match was found).
For example say you incoming file contained a contra record followed by a trailer. We do not want PayGate to import the trailer or the contra record and so we set the ‘End String’ to CONTRA and set the position to the location where contra can be found, in our case 64.
Comment Tokens
A comment token
is a string that, when placed at the beginning of a line, indicates that the
line is a comment and should be ignored by the parser. PayGate will ignore
any liens that start with a comment token.
Trim White Spaces
If selected
PayGate will automatically trim any white spaces from the start and end of a
field. Whitespaces in the middle of a field will be preserved.
Remove zero value credits
If
selected PayGate will ignore any payment instructions that have both a
transaction code of 99 and a zero amount. This will prevent the file from
failing validation at the submission creation stage.
